Ex- Doctor Charged with Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for performing sexual assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
The Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
