LA Explodes in Celebration as Los Angeles Dodgers Secure Second World Series Championship
The City of Angels experienced widespread festivities after the Dodgers won a thrilling seven-match World Series championship. Supporters across the globe joined Angelenos in celebration, marking the initial time in a quarter-century that a franchise has secured consecutive championships.
Celebration Parade Attracts Massive Turnout
Local events featured a procession through the city center on the morning of the parade, a ticketed rally at Dodger Stadium, and spontaneous parties across the city.
Social media videos depict thousands of Los Angeles residents packing city center avenues, many carrying handmade banners and Dodger flags. The squad was seen riding high on a open-top bus through the masses, raising the Commissioner’s trophy proudly.
“My focus is already about the next championship we’re going to do this,” the star player stated through an interpreter.
The procession path concluded at Dodger Stadium, where the team walked out to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with the renowned DJ providing music and Ice Cube driving a Pacific blue vintage Cadillac around the field.
Early Celebrations and Athlete Responses
Celebrations began well before the procession, with Dodgers fans setting off flares in the roads of the city center on the previous evening.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, awarded the World Series’ Most Valuable Player, commented plainly about the victory.
“We refuse to lose,” Yamamoto stated. “I love the Dodgers. This city means everything to me.”
Varied Responses and City Unity
However, the team owner received a less warm reception at the celebration. Video footage from the gathering appear to show Walter taking the stage to a combination of cheers and boos, with negative shouts interrupting his address.
The World Series served as a positive moment in what has been a trying year for Los Angeles. An approximate 225,000 people showed up to the championship parade last year, and according to Dodgers player one athlete, supporters this year showed as much if not more support.
“It seems it’s almost double from last year,” he said. “These fans are crazy. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
