Vinted Members Share Displeasure About Sizing Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform all users about the change.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Changes
Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
